Since dense ores are new blocks they lose any effects of the base block such as emitting light or having a chance to explode when mined. It'd be nice to be able to carry over from the base block at least choose those common effects for dense ores.
If you can let me know what block methods need to be called, I should be able to call most of them. If you're not sure, the mod author should be able to tell you what method they're using for the effects.
