Crash on minecraft start up #99

Hello, I'm creating a private mod pack and love how simple your ore generation config is but I have had it crash my game way more times then its done anything. I really need a COG and many of your features really improve the game. Plus will it work with custom dimensions I have not been able to figure that out yet.

PS. I hope you don't mind me using your mod pack.

Anyway my crash log is below. Here I'm trying to generate a custom ore in the nether. My goal is to generate 4 custom ores to the overworld, nether and a custom dimension.

Thanks for any help in advance Aschy

You've made a mistake on the config. It's trying to get a block based on a name you've supplied it, and the block doesn't exist, so it crashes.

jordanasch commented 7 years ago

Oh really? I was quite sure I had it right. Usually when it's not right it just would output in the config that it could not find the ore.

Ill try again, thanks for the tip!

And about the custom dimensions, can I just add a custom dimension ID to the config and it works?

WhiskyTangoFawks commented 7 years ago

It should, there was a bug a while back where it was ignoring that but I want to say the fix went out already

It normally does just output in the config that it's wrong. This sort of crash happens normally when you remove a mod and so the block no longer exists, or if you add an incorrect block name to one of the non-master lists in gameplay config for example.

jordanasch commented 7 years ago

Okay great thanks, Ill dot my i's and cross my t's and let you know if I find anything.

jordanasch commented 7 years ago

Hey there WhiskyTangoFox,

Sorry to bother you again but I cannot figure this out, I'm not sure if this is the best place to discuss this if it isn't then let me know where you would like me to post it. Maybe I just don't understand the config well enough, and I understand if you shrug me off but I really could use a nudge in the right direction.. Anyway.. I'm struggling with the Custom Ore Generator, I want to spawn custom ores in dimension 1 and in a custom dimension which ID happens to be 10.

My blocks name is from the output in game is:   gemcraft:BlockSapphireOre      meta 0

In the config if I enter:   gemcraft:BlockSapphireOre@0 #vein           When I try to begin minecraft it then crashes on client loading when fml tries to fire up wtfcore I think, maybe I'm just a broken record and if I am I apologize I have so little knowledge of Java to understand the crash log.

Any help would be great I'm at the end of my rope on this one!

edit: I didn't see you edited your post I have to think about that too, but I don't think that's a problem.

WhiskyTangoFawks commented 7 years ago

If the crash log is the same, then that is what is happening. I'll have a look and see what I can do to improve the crash logging in terms of getting you a bit more information on what is going on.

I think I get the same crash. https://pastebin.com/TJ4ccL7T

Viakanr commented 7 years ago

I get the same crash has anyone figured this out? Heres my config https://pastebin.com/gs0J2wtU

WenXin20 commented 7 years ago

On line 22, the id is spelled 'ailcraft:ore_metal@4 #vein' instead of 'railcraft:ore_metal@4 #vein'. So its just because of a spelling mistake.

Viakanr commented 7 years ago

still crashed after i fixed it https://pastebin.com/xN4xga4G

WenXin20 commented 7 years ago

If its an ore that this mod can't find, the latest.log should say what is causing the crash. If that's not it, then I'm not sure what it is, and you'll just have to wait for WhiskyTangoFox to reply.
