I just verified that I have the latest Tikz installed. Thanks for your quick
reply,
however. Do you know what else I might try to fix this issue?

Here's the log of the output, by the way. Hope it helps.

As described in http://code.google.com/p/pgf-umlsd/ , version 0.5 needs cvs
version
of PGF: http://www.texample.net/tikz/builds/ , version 0.2 should work for you,
but
the latest version (v 0.5) is recommended!

I'm getting this error when using MiKTeX. Here's my versions:
pgf-umlsd - 2010-04-03
tikz - 2008-02-13
Seems odd that that MiKTeX would include your package with an old version of
tikz.

Because the tikz is released 2 years ago! Please install the current version:

tikz

Also TexLive 2010 includes 'old' version of Tikz. Since 99% of users probably
do use distribution using released version of TikZ would be easier.

In pgf-umlsd.sty, arround the line 280 (version 0.6), replace the two lines
"\foreach \t [evaluate=\t] in {1,...,\thethreadnum}{"
by
"\foreach \t in {1,...,\thethreadnum}{"
