Hey @KirstieJane. I wasn't sure where to leave this comment, but I thought this might be a good place. I just wanted to remind you about our conversation we had on the Caltrain after the Moz Global Sprint about encouraging the development of science communication skills in your lab (even, and maybe especially, for those that might not seem inclined to go down a science communications career route). As we discussed, even those that are more passionate about benchwork, rather than communicating it, need to develop SciComm skills as this is a key skill to successfully network, get funding, write papers, and can often help to reconnect with the bigger picture of the research (particularly if explaining your research to non-scientists). Also, it is really a scientists job to communicate the significance of their work to the public as, more often that not, it is funded by the tax payer. I hope this is helpful.
