Menu items in Windows OS (Win 7 64 bit at least) #24

The menu items appear to the right of the tab button and have a tendency to disappear whilst moving the mouse onto them before the mouse reaches them.

You seem to have to click-hold to move over the menu items, then you can unclick and then finally click your selection.

Alright that's fair. The menu items are set up such that the disappear as soon as the mouse leaves the tab or drop down menu. I can easily change it so that theres a delay before the menu goes down. I like the rapid closeing, but we can add a delay.

With regards to the click hold, you should be able to go straight down the menu then to the right, or is this an issue?

The menu items disappear as soon as the mouse leaves the button, and there doesn’t seem to be any way to get to the drop down box before it vanishes other than click-hold.

I don’t know whether the drop down box is appearing in a different location for me, but it looks like this.

As you can see the drop down menu appears to the right of the button so you can’t go straight down to get to it and before you can get far enough to the right it vanishes.

I can't see the images didn't make it in here... :(

I am doing it with hover at the moment, but I also don't have an issue with the menu appearing to the right of the button.

What browser (and version) are you using?

Uploaded to photobuckeet. The last one was sent by email, and it obviously strips images out!

AHHHHHHHH!!!! That's not what it looks like at all for me. The clients menu is centered under clients... What browser?

82ndab-Bravo17 commented 13 years ago

IE9

Just tried Firefox 4 and that looks OK.

WickedShell commented 13 years ago

I guess this is why erie wrote a bit of code that disables Internet Explorer from useing echelon2? (I haven't tried thisas I don't have a comp with IE avalible atm)

Jeez I guess I need to get a copy of windows/ie to test with.

Compatibility mode fixes this

WickedShell commented 13 years ago

Is it safe to assume that by default compatability mode is turned off?

I just found a microsoft knowledge base article about this. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956197

I followed it's advice from method 4 and have added the compatabile header to all pages, does this solve the issue?

82ndab-Bravo17 commented 13 years ago

Yes, off by default

82ndab-Bravo17 commented 13 years ago

No, I'm afraid it made it worse!

Well, actually the problems are still the same, but you can no longer choose the compatibility mode button to put them right!

WickedShell commented 13 years ago

ARGH! Alright I took the header off again, until I have another solution. When you run compatability mode does it tell you whether you're running IE7 or 8 compatability?

WickedShell commented 13 years ago

I borrowed a computer with IE9 and by setting the header I resolved this and issue #29 (https://github.com/WickedShell/echelon/issues/29) with regards to that computer. It disabled the select/deselect box for compatibility view, but it also displayed perfectly....

This was with most recent updates and IE9, Version 9.0.8112.16421
