so nss ranked will be its own thing in the project due to its multiplayer nature and different-ness from everything else

so there will be two queues: one for nss ranked and one for everything else.

as of now they will also behave differently because i don't really plan on supporting greater than 1v1 for everything else in a while

so how is the non-1v1 going to work exactly

• start a timer for 5 minutes after the first person joins the queue
• after that 5 minutes join everyone else in the queue up into a match
• or if there's 8 players just start the match immediately
  • i dont really expect there to be a need for skill based matchmaking for nss right? ie. 9 people won't join the queue in 5 minutes surely

this issue kind of concerns deciding on a new matchmaking strategy now. currently it is when 2 people join the queue they are matched up. my ideas are as follows

• see #13 about being able to queue for several games
  • there will probably be 2 queues, 1 for nss and 1 for everything else because of nss's online nature
• determine some formula to evaluate the "goodness" of a matchup (ideas: elo difference, how recently people played against each other, etc)
• do this formula on every possible matchup between everyone in the queue
• have a route that when called does the above, creates the best matches, then returns them, so that the discord bot can call it every 5 minutes or something

• a more sophisticated matchmaking formula
  • how recently have ppl played against each other?
