Patcher suggestions #48

I have many feature suggestions for the patcher that may improve usability quite a lot. A list and links to each will be below.

Separate Wii/vWii menus

Currently, there is a single option when in the "What are we doing today?" section: "Install WiiLink on your Wii". It may be confusing to some users that this only supports Wii, with vWii unsupported. Although there is a section in there to choose vWii, it may not be obvious and so having a separate option will fix that.

Custom install options

Currently, you have to download the 6 channels, and you cannot enable/disable any. Having the option to only patch what you need would be a nice idea. Also having channels that are no longer downloadable would be a nice touch. For example: the Photo Channel (for vWii's), or Today & Tomorrow Channel (for Europe/Japan/Korea).

Settings (Languages)

There are currently 3 supported languages: English, Japanese, and Spanish. Upon opening the patcher, your language is set to the system locale (I believe). Having a way to change the language easily might be a good idea for some people who (for example) prefer to have their computer in English, but understand Spanish easier. This also ties into another idea: more language support. The Wii supports 9 languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Traditional/Simplified).

Progress indicator

This is a minor suggestion and is not important at all, but nice to have. Currently, there is no way to know how long until you're done. It's just a single one-way method, which is good, but might be confusing. Having a way to see where you're at might be nice. Even just a 5/6 at the top might be nice.

Overview of channels

WiiLink has a lot of channels now, ranging over 3 different types: Core Services (Japanese channels), Media Services (Kirby TV), and WiiConnect24 (Forecast and NC). Before patching, maybe having an overview would be nice:

These are features I'll definitely be implementing over time, as it would improve the patching experience. I just gotta figure out ways to properly do it that will work on both the Windows and Unix patcher, but I will do it for sure.
