High priority:

[x] Replace Docker with Conda
[x] bump Python to the latest version
[x] bump as many dependencies as possible to their latest version
[ ] test linker

Low priority:

[ ] update docs
[x] backup the current Cloud VPS instance
[x] delete it
[x] spawn a fresh one with the latest OS
