Unable to Give Villagers Gifts #1239

Since the initial 6.0.0 beta release, it's been impossible to give villagers gifts. When selecting the gift action, the screen responds but the command does not/the villager does not react.

Did you select the item to gift in your hotbar then right click to give it to them?
