Matchmaker Rings not working #1403

Resurrected villagers refuse to renew their marriage.

I've adopted a village and have been going through and resurrecting anyone who has died. I noticed that if a villager was married before when they died, when they are brought back their spouse is still a widower and they are unmarried. I had a couple where both died (no, I did not murder them) and I brought them back and have been trying to give them matchmaker rings to renew their vows. However, even though both are single, they won't accept the rings. I have them alone in an enclosed area, and their text either is something like "I need two rings" and then when I give them 2 it's "I don't want to marry Casper" or "can you bring the other person closer." Even though it's just the two of them, standing romantically in the graveyard under the dark oak where they laid side by side for seasons...

I've tried putting a matchmaking ring in their inventory and then gifting the ring to the other and I've made several rings and they never seem to recognize that there is the other unmarried villager right next to them.

Anyways, is this fixable? I don't want to let them wander because I do want them to remarry each other...I did go and kill a wither and a dragon for this moment...

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Have a married couple die.
  2. Resurrect them with the staff of life.
  3. Try to gift either of them the two matchmaker rings
  4. Cry and realize that their relationship has moldered to dust in the afterlife.
