It seems that Apptainer is finding an empty HOME env var when pulling the Docker container from Docker Hub. A workaround is to set the env var in Cylc tasks when using the Julia image (see #100).
Finding the root issue and updating the Dockerfile accordingly would be better. Suspected places to look:
