Downvote reason for link-only answer #34

Open MickaelBaye opened 6 years ago

MickaelBaye commented 6 years ago

As mentionned in issue #31 , a downvote reason for answers that contain only link(s) should be created. This downvote reason can be based on current Stackoverflow page How do I write a good answer ?.

GrumpyCrouton commented 6 years ago

I honestly think it would be nice to see more idownvotedbecau.se links for answers in general, most of them are directed toward the questioner, but I could often use good links to explain why some answers aren't good, like the proposed link-only one, and more such as code only answers, answers asking for clarification from the asker etc.

@GrumpyCrouton I just pulled #40 which consists of three reasons to downvote answers. The files need extensive editing before they can go live, however (front matter, grammar, removing pronouns, etc). I'll try to get to them this week, but help is always appreciated around here.

@WillSullivan assign clean up of #40 to me so i don't forget i will do it tomorrow.

Guys, are you going to downvote link-only answers and explain your vote by leaving a link-only comment?

WillSullivan commented 6 years ago

Well, answers are god-tier, and comments are s*t-tier in the SE universe. Link only comments... nobody cares too much (tho there's plenty of bitching on Meta about link only comments to here).

Link only answers are considered bad--in fact, they used to be considered delete-on-the-spot bad. The page describes why.

Whether or not the person linking here adds more context is on them. But if they go ironic, and just drop the bare link, and the person who got downvoted comes here and learns all about link-only answers and then goes back, edits in context/details, and then gets the downvote reverted...

yay?
