"No Such File or Folder" message when trying to convert to WMV #67

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. ADD a file and pick an MP4 video from the dialog box
2. Select WMV & WMV2 Generic and set folder to my Videos
3. CONVERT

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
a conversion of the file chosen - instead I get a message No such file or
folder - BUT I picked input & output from dialogs so they certainly do exist

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Win7 Prof. 32bit currently up to date - WinFF 1.2 downloaded & installed today

Please provide any additional information below.
I am somewhere between novice and knowledgeable user - totally new to WIN7
and working with video. The MP4 videos I am trying to convert to WMV came
from my FLIP Video camera using provided FlipShare software. The videos
play in Widows Media and other viewers so I know the files are not corrupt.

It's probably characters such as: *,&,#,^, and international character in the
file's
path

Sorry, but my file (and folder) names are just plain old fashion and short text
such as
Silas.MP4
Bella.MP4

Tried a half dozen or so different input files with same results. Made a new
sub-folder for output with same results.

There are several "users" on this machine, but all the files I am trying to
convert
belong to (imported from the camera by) the user trying to convert them. I am
also
the administrator if I need to be. Except during the install, I have not been
asked
for administrator permission to do anything involving the conversion process
and I
don't get any "access denied" type messages.

Oh Yes - forgot to mention "User" names are also plain English and short -
nothing
more than abc's.

AND - I never said the program crashes - it does NOT crash, it just doesn't do
anything with the input file since it claims the file doesn't exist. If I close
the
program and reopen, my selections in the lower half of the screen are just as I
left
them when I closed the program.

I am reluctant to try this patch or whatever it is you recommended without real
good
step by step directions and a reason to believe it relates to my problem.
