It looks like the idea to show only icons is great for such a feature. It is super important to save space on the screen when it is possible. Showing the text is redundant as you can understand what is the window by the icon.

This is unless you have 2 icons that are the same. This scenario is very common for browsers... To handle this issue, I added an option to show text for duplicate icons.

However, while experiencing it, I found that very fast you have a lot of duplicate icons with text so you get the original problem again (that they may disturb you because they are too visible/take space)

The solution is the suggestion from @jakkaas

But I will add to this idea an extra thing: When it will show the list of windows from the app (when the mouse is above the icon), it should show them in order and the order is by how recently each window was used. So that the first item in the list will be the window that was most recently used from the same app. The second item in the list will be the window that was used most recently after the first window in the list.

The same concept is done for the anchors. The most recent anchor/window that was used is the biggest one and so on

I like this feature, and it save us a lot of space for sure...

According to more feedback, I am getting a feeling that one of the reasons that users use this feature is because of the grouping that is done in the taskbar.

I also find myself solving the need for more space thanks to https://github.com/BiGilSoft/WindowTop/issues/213

So I guess that this is not needed so much
