Fix leak over spare room window #149

The whole is so high that it is hard to reach from outside. I can reach it from inside the loft, but how to fill a 5cm whole in a thin piece of asbestos siding, without disturbing the asbestos?

Plan A:

[x] Fit a square patch from inside the loft.
[x] Having first caulked it with a 7cm circle of exterior waterproof cement of some sort, that I bung into the whole and which fills the whole and dries there.
[x] The square patch will have a square of glue applied around the cement to fix the patch to the inside of the asbestos wall and duct tape to hold it in place while the glue fixes.
[x] The patch needs to be waterproof and I need to see that I position the cement bung right into the hole, so I'll use a square of acetate for the patch.

I have investigated the square hole in the wall beneath the spare room window; it goes through to the void between the ground floor ceiling and the first floor; you can see all the electrical wiring etc. It had a rubbery sealant around it with the impression of something round with screw-holes at the four corners; maybe a vent cover. I stuck a quails egg box in there for now, though the inside of the hole doesn't feel wet so doesn't look like it is contributing to the render problem.

Where a large piece of cement render has now fallen away, there is a wooden and a diagonal wooden beam exposed, both quite narrow and quite rotten.
