Joe came round 10th Oct and pulled off some old render. Bad news, there is much more wood in the construction than expected and most of it is rotten. Though it is worse where the leak was, it is a more widespread problem caused by the previous application of the wrong render and paint some years ago. The whole house may need to be done and the wood replaced with stone as we go. So the job will be more expensive and take considerably longer.

Need to mention to Emma/Jack that there could be a problem with their adjoining beams too.
