discussion about an hotslogs api

Hey guys,

Our very own Karti gave me an idea that would give more diversity to our lovely bot.

We could ask Ben (hotslogs dev) to write up an API so that we can pull every single stat that is available on hotslogs.com to give us new options like !winrate, !ratingQM, !ratingHL or whatever you can think of.

Now, it seems like he has evaded the question when Karti asked him so I need your help here to write up some arguments as to why he should do that, what all the advantages are, what can be built with it etc

Thoughts, friends? :)

I already asked Ben way back before hotsbot if he had an API and if not did he want me to make one. He answered no. It was a while back but I am unsure if he answered no to me making an api at the time or wanting one at all.

I think building our own API wouldn't be so hard anyway.

Yes, I am not sure if it is official but there is an API:

https://hotslogs.com/API/Players/1

is that the only part of the api thats available though? my main interest would be seeing which characters have been played during matches.

The reply I got:

Yeah you can use that. The '1' is the 'PlayerID' from the Profile or Match History link. You can also search by BattleTag, using '_' instead of '#': https://www.hotslogs.com/API/Players/1/Benthor_1644 In this case, the '1' is the region: 1 = US 2 = EU 3 = KR 5 = CN

You can just contact him yourself, the info is on hotslogs.com
