Although not the right place (but don't know what other channel could I use), posting here. It would be good if popular repositories owners would have Discussions enabled (by their owners).

Given the fact that there are exactly 8 months (at submit time) since the last commit, is this still maintained? If not, is there an alternative?

It seems author is busy with the MIT licensed YOLOV7 and v9 implementation. Please check this- https://github.com/WongKinYiu/yolov9mit
