more value on the wp.org profiles we have #6

Let’s put more value on the wp.org profiles we have. With proposals like using them instead of the Twitter handle for WordCamps or looking for new ways to leverage them with ideas to measure Five for the Future. And maybe in the future, they will be the gateway to a new platform as Meetup for all our local events.

Thank you @leogopal It has been mentioned in the proposal/comments (which you link to above) that not everyone has a wp.org account, but then we still "force" people to register to meetup to participate to meetups, so why not have new WordCamp attendees register on wp.org anyway, at least if they want a link there.

And as you mention "And maybe in the future, they will be the gateway to a new platform" ... Yes! see GatherPress, and let's imagine our wp org profiles listing all the meetup-type events we have attended!

And about "new ways to leverage them with ideas to measure Five for the Future", maybe a way to say "I'm a contributor looking for a sponsor for X to Y hours/week" / or for companies "We are looking to sponsor a contributor fo X to Y hours/week", directly in the profile!
