Missing information on uploading a theme zip from wp-admin #1381

Open properlypurple opened 1 year ago

properlypurple commented 1 year ago

Issue Description

The 'Working with themes page has sections for installing themes from the built-in directory, uploading via Cpanel, and uploading via FTP. There should be a section for uploading a theme zip file from the wp-admin themes section as well.

URL of the Page with the Issue

https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/work-with-themes

Section of Page with the issue

"Adding New Themes"

Why is this a problem?

Uploading theme zip files acquired from outside sources shouldn't need a user to go to their hosting control panel or FTP.

Suggested Fix

Add a section for 'Uploading a theme zip file', which can have subsections for uploading via wp-admin, cpanel, ftp, etc.

Heads up @WordPress/docs-issues-coordinators, we have a new issue open. Time to use 'em labels.

Currently in the section called Adding New Themes using the Administration Screens, point 6 do mention about uploading it through wp-admin. So is it necessary to include it as a separate section? Or use the Upload Theme button at the top of page to upload a zipped copy of a Theme that you have previously downloaded to your machine.
