Started working on this for iOS
This guide will walk you through how to add a search box to your WordPress site using the iOS app. Whether you’re new to WordPress or have some experience, this step-by-step guide will help you easily place a search box on any post or page, so visitors can quickly find the content they need.
What You’ll Learn
The Search block lets your visitors search for specific content on your site. It searches the titles and body text of posts and pages, as well as media like image captions and alt text. However, it doesn’t search in widgets, comments, or tags.
Search results will show in reverse chronological order, based on when the post was published. If a search term is found in a post title, that post will appear first, followed by posts where the search term is found in the body text.
For examples, let’s say you have a recent post titled “Summer Vacation Tips” and an older post titled “Best Beaches in California.” If someone searches for “California” the older post titled “Best Beaches in California” will appear first in the search results, because the search term is in the title. Any other posts containing “California” in the body will show up after, sorted by when they were published.
1. Open the WordPress app on your iPhone or iPad and edit the post or page where you want the search box.
2. Tap the + icon in the bottom toolbar to open the block inserter.
Placeholder text is the text inside the search box before someone starts typing. It could say something like “Search here…” and disappears once the user clicks inside the box to type.
To change the placeholder text:
When you select the Search block a toolbar will appear above it. This toolbar lets you customize how the search box looks and works. Here’s what you can do from the toolbar:
Transform block: Convert the Search block into another type of block, like a group or column.
Drag: Move the block around on the page.
Align: Adjust the alignment of the search box to left, center, or right.
Toggle Search label: Show or hide the word “Search” above the text box.
Change button position: Choose to have the search button inside or outside the text box, or hide it entirely.
Use button with icon: Add a search icon (like a magnifying glass) next to the button text.
You can customize how the Search block looks on your site:
Color: Change the text and background color of the search box.
Typography: Adjust the font style, size, and spacing of the placeholder text.
By following these steps, you can easily add a functional and customizable search box to any post or page on your WordPress site using the iOS app. This will help your visitors find the content they’re looking for, improving their experience on your site.
The content needs to be written for for both iOS and Android
