Update Jargon glossary with Polyglot and Contributor event terms

Background:

• Due to the volume of words which have been raised on contributor events, for translation events and through the marketing video campaign.

Feedback:

• From some recent contributor events and new organizers from a couple of WordCamps on some of the terminology / expressions.

Potential uses/ ways to contribute to this:

• Considering a list of potential terms and writing some draft explanations might be suitable as a task for WCEU contributor day if someone wants to work on their own, as well as other contributor events coming up who are looking for tasks to do for a small group or those new to contributing
• Link well with and add a structure for expanding the contributor day ask me anything task from WCEU, which the Marketing team supported, and which will be expanded with other WordCamps. There is a possibility of an extended list being translated.

Purpose:

• Would be a potential update to the existing jargon glossary (https://trello.com/c/kpXnCGls/96-wp-jargon-glossary-for-new-people)
• Help address questions more easily
• Add in links to new resources on Make WordPress since the last update of the glossary

Timeline 25 February 2020 Abha: To update potentially at WCEU Contributor Day 2020. Follow-up with meta on previous query of how to update the designed version.

2 May 2019 Polyglots/ Translation This came from the number of requests for information on polyglot terms for WordPress Translation Day 4 from people new to contributing to WP or to that team. The marketing team’s glossary could link to some of the polyglot pages on this, potentially add new definitions using the list being created for the event for follow up.

Some of the terms to include in a google document for review: polyglots, locale, Rosetta site, Meetup Chapter.

Contributor Day Terminology Reviewing and potentially adding other terms from Contributor day leads at WCLDN 2019 and from the Contributor events campaign by WCEU 2019. WCEU has also created a CD glossary which we will be working with others including Michelle and team at WCUS on extending.

To do:

• Abha to export lists into one and add it to the marketing drive and Trello card during the next week.
• Sent to Siobhan and Yvette as a potential for WCEU Contributor Day marketing table. Potential uses/ ways to get involved:
• task for new contributors to marketing to work on in terms of identifying any other additions.
