Capturing Marketing Photos for the WordPress Photo Directory #189

Closed santanainniss closed 2 months ago

Help add photos to the Photo Directory that can be used in social media marketing about WordPress and Contributor Day!

Because the Photo Directory does not currently accept photos with faces, it can be challenging to find images that can be used on WordPress social media accounts. Help us gather marketing-ready photos that work within these guidelines today!

Photo ideas for WordPress social media marketing:

Friendly reminder: WordPress is an inclusive community! Remember to document a wide range of ethnicities, abilities, body types, ages, gender representations, etc.

For this issue, please capture photos during the morning session, and return later (after lunch or later morning) to sit together and add your photos to the photo directory!

Guidelines for submitting photos to the Photo Directory here: https://wordpress.org/photos/guidelines/

Submit your photos here using your WordPress.Org ID https://wordpress.org/photos/submit/

@santanainniss another really great idea is to capture IRL (in real life) workspaces, e.g. desks, offices, studios, etc. Would be great to get those!

Would it be good to ask the WordCamp photographers what they have captured? Or also encourage future volunteer photographers to take these kinds of photos throughout the events?

I love all of these ideas!

An important consideration when taking photos of workstations or desks is to avoid displaying personal information/stuff on monitors. We ran into that issue before and the Photos team had to reject some photos!

Here are a few more ideas (curated from this generic list that @sereedmedia shared) for capturing marketing and tech photos:

I have my camera with me, and I've taken a screenshot of this list to get us started. I'll run them by the photo table and get them in the directory.

I have submitted a couple of photos to the directory. Thank you, this was fun!

Closing this issue as complete, as it doesn't seem to be active since June 2023.
