What is Tide

Tide is a series of automated tests run against every plugin and theme in the directory and then displays PHP compatibility and test errors/warnings in the directory.

Why we need promotion

What is done already

Doc draft Related ticket: Add performance index to each theme and plugin in the repository

Why campaign was postponed

And the moment where the idea was initially brainstormed, Tide team was working on rebuild of the whole project switching to Node.js from whatever was used before and campaign was put on stop.

Plans

The next Tide team meeting will be on Wednesday, April 12th at 7 pm UTC. I am planning to attend and raise this question.

FWIW Tide is live (still some technicalities before v1 could get tagged) and in-use in the https://wordpress.org/plugins/php-compatibility-checker/ plugin

At this point Tide is available for other plugins or Make teams to utilize (e.g. plugin or theme review).
