How is WCEU Contributor Day being managed in terms of onboarding brand new contributors with no Slack/GitHub/WP.org access?

This year, it looks like there will be a centralized table at Contributor Day to onboard new contributors. Emails have been sent out with instructions. However, there is still no 100% guarantee that folks will read these emails or come prepared in advance. 30 new contributors signed up for marketing. I'll report on the experience when we return from WCEU and we can work on improving the current documentation. We can also add some resources to our handbook to help prepare future Contributor Table leads.

Here's a short summary of some key points:

What we did:

• 15 contributors participated in Marketing tables.
• Content was generated for the Grow Your Story and WPPhotos campaigns.
• Interviews were conducted for the Diversity & Pride Month initiative.
• Marketing photos were taken for team use.
• Productive conversations and interactions took place.

What went well:

• A round of introductions helped participants connect and understand each other's interests.
• Having a centralized table at WCEU for onboarding streamlined the contribution process.
• Collaboration and support between table leads were beneficial.
• Newcomers leaned towards quick, fun tasks like the WPPhotos campaign.

Areas for improvement:

• Preparing simpler, actionable tasks in advance could make it easier for new contributors.
• The Handbook needs updating and could be organized for different experience levels, including documentation for future table leads to guide them in their roles.
• Engaging newcomers to contribute in the long term should be considered.
• Clarifying the event's purpose to ensure participants focus on contributing rather than just networking.
