Reason for Submission
Pew Research Center has developed a custom digital news platform on WordPress called PRC Platform. This platform enables them to publish content more quickly and in greater volume. It also simplifies the process for designers and editors to prototype, test, and create new content and designs directly from within WordPress. www.pewresearch.org is a block first"" news site. Everything you see, from core content to mega menus, newsletter signups, archive filters, user accounts, interactive charts, and quizzes, is built using blocks. Nearly all of these blocks utilize the new WordPress interactivity API. Pew Research Center and its Editorial Engineering Team are committed to staying at the forefront of blocks development. Almost all the code that enables this, from our custom library of over 100 blocks to our core plugins, is available as open source for others to learn from at https://www.github.com/pewresearch.
Any additional notes or details?
For additional technical information, www.pewresearch.org started as a collection of social science research organizations and websites, including Drupal, Ektron, and WordPress CMSs. Over the past two decades, these research units have united under the Pew Research Center and the www.pewresearch.org website. In April 2024, we achieved our final milestone of organizational unity by migrating our multisite-powered websites and content, dating back to 1985, into one www.pewresearch.org. We also converted all our content from legacy HTML and shortcodes to block markup.
