Change default branch from `master` to `trunk` #217

This initiative began with Proposal: Update all git repositories to use trunk instead of master, but this repo has not yet been updated. This issue is to track the update.

Fast-forwarding a few years since that post, GitHub now supports an easy workflow for renaming branches: https://docs.github.com/en/repositories/configuring-branches-and-merges-in-your-repository/managing-branches-in-your-repository/renaming-a-branch.

The PR queue has been cleaned up, and there are no workflow steps configured (deployments are manually handled through svn).
