There isn't currently a way to remove or update a variation.
You're right, removing and then creating again is the only way to do this.
I think the ability to do BOTH would be good though. Overwriting probably the easiest to do (and most helpful).
Thanks for your response! Maybe it could be put on the ’To Do’ list?? The variation is so great, all you have is a small file, and a completely diff. look on the same site.

To update a Style Variation, I tried: Editor>Create a Style Variation. Name is the same as the active style, (the one I just updated with headings are now Camel Case). Get message 'Style Variation Already Exists'. Is there a way to update and overwrite a variation? Or should I just create a new Variation with a new name, and delete the orig. from the Styles folder?
