Disappearing widgets #59422

Open SalltS opened 9 months ago

SalltS commented 9 months ago

Description

Widgets disappear from footer and sidebar. Have noticed when adding certain widgets, for example, a mailchimp embedded form with a heading and paragraph, it disappears after a few hours. Also noticed this with the sidebar, added in a spacer that just disappeared. Have tested plugins, themes, created a staging site and contacted A2 hosting who did their own tests. They think its a problem with gutenberg because when they tested it with elementor, the problem didn't exist. Here's some other forums who reported similar issues too that never got resolved: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/widgets-keep-disappearing-every-night/#post-17419624 and https://wordpress.org/support/topic/disappearing-sidebar-widget-content-anyone-else/#post-17416894

Step-by-step reproduction instructions

  1. Add mailchimp embedded form into footer widget. 2. Add a heading and small paragraph below. 3. Add sidebar spacer. 4. Wait for a few hours and content disappears as if it was never there. 5. Alternatively, if you switch themes, it'll disappear immediately.

Thanks for reporting.

Does this ever happen when you only add blocks but you do not include HTML block ?

SalltS commented 9 months ago

It happens if I use the mailchimp plugin block and if I add it as an embedded form using custom html. And then add a separate heading and paragraph; that seems to be what causes it to disappear.

If I just embed the form or add the block on its own (with no info of why they’re subscribing for example) then it seems to stay.

I hope that makes sense.

It's happened when i've added it as a custom html block. But also when i've added it in as a mailchimp block. I've tested separately and also together. Not sure if that answers your question.

I don't really know what more info to give you, i'm not techy so I've no idea how to fix it. I was just explaining the problems i've been having.

Hi, this problem still exists. Are there any updates? Is there going to be a Gutenberg update soon to address the issue of disappearing widgets?
