Further discussion for the format of Wordcamp Count Report Table #993

Open renintw opened 1 year ago

In this PR, first-time participation of attendees, organizers, sponsors, speakers, and volunteers was introduced to the WordCamp Counts Report.

And as per the discussion in the PR earlier, we're thinking there might be too much information being tried and squeezed into the format.

The current layout looks like below:

Or you can try yourself here (Note: Checking or unchecking the Include estimated gender breakdowns option can lead to different layout presentations)

Any idea about how we can improve the design here?

We've talked about:

  1. writing out First Time Organizers rather than just abbreviating.

  2. using sticky header.

  3. displaying the first-time participation data in a separate column.

Any idea about how we can improve the design here?

From design we've little bandwidth to improve the table in the immediate future, so we likely need a near-term idea to move forward.

But I will note for future reference, that we need a single solid and responsive table-design that works across both tabular data like this, and across list views in wp-admin. There's no reason to keep separate designs for each, so there's a design challenge here that spans across wp.org and wp efforts.

In the near term, there are some small practical things we can do:

Hope that helps.
