  • [x] News page generally looks good. Should we ensure that all authors have their full name entered in their profile, so it says “Dan Soschin” instead of “dansoschin”?
  • [ ] Perhaps we should also hide the author from the main feed, and show it only on permalinks, where it seems more relevant.
  • [ ] I’d personally like to see more space between posts on the posts page. They are a little tight right now.
  • [ ] Same with the line height, line spacing — the space below the post title, and below the excerpt is pretty tight. We might even want to bump the font size and line height to be more legible, this is especially visible on the permalinks, where the text feels very small when seen next to the big beautiful images. WP.org/news has some good styles here that may be worth moving towards )
  • [ ] We might even want to bump the heading sizes at least on permalinks. Looking at something like this post, everything looks much smaller and more compact than it needs to.
  • [x] There’s a glitch with the next/previous post pagination
  • [ ] perhaps we can increase the spacing above next/previous post pagination quite a bit, it’s very tight and feels almost part of the post. Perhaps we can even put this in the left sidebar instead? That would also give it a fixed position so I can click through a lot of them.

@jasmussen what was the glitch with pagination? I didn't see any screenshots for that, and it looks correct to me on the site.

Thanks for ticketing this! Following up, the profiles have been updated already, so authorwise that leaves considering whether to hide the author from the main feed. This is not a strong opinion, happy to defer to those who have one.

The three last items in this list (placeholder post, moba screenshot, spotify button) I would consider the most important ones to address soon. Either pre launch or soon after.

The pagination issue looked like this:

next prev

But it appears to have been fixed since then!

👍🏻 I split the high priority ones into #76 so they can be focused on for the launch

Posting on this issue because it is not high priority, and it's open to input. It is a clarification of what I meant about these two:

I’d personally like to see more space between posts on the posts page. They are a little tight right now.

Same with the line height, line spacing — the space below the post title, and below the excerpt is pretty tight. We might even want to bump the font size and line height to be more legible, this is especially visible on the permalinks, where the text feels very small when seen next to the big beautiful images. WP.org/news has some good styles here that may be worth moving towards

Right now the news pages have 30px spacing between items, 14px body font, and 150% line height, like so:

News News Single

I would like to see those bumped to 60px spacing between items, 16px body font, and 180% line height, like so:

News after News Single after

This is not a strong opinion, and I believe @pablohoneyhoney may have given feedback about the compression of these items, so in case he prefers the former, we can keep it as is. But otherwise, the above edits are visuals of the changes I think would benefit the page.

Added the needs-design label here as we need some consensus on the remaining points in the description, before making any further changes please @marko-srb @pablohoneyhoney:

  1. Perhaps we should also hide the author from the main feed, and show it only on permalinks, where it seems more relevant.
  2. I’d personally like to see more space between posts on the posts page. They are a little tight right now.
  4. We might even want to bump the heading sizes at least on permalinks. Looking at something like this post, everything looks much smaller and more compact than it needs to.
  5. perhaps we can increase the spacing above next/previous post pagination quite a bit, it’s very tight and feels almost part of the post. Perhaps we can even put this in the left sidebar instead? That would also give it a fixed position so I can click through a lot of them.
