Theme Directory Redesign: Option to add screenshots, video embeds and further documentation text to single theme page #9

While we are at the redesign of the theme directory, I wonder why we can't add the same additional promotion material to single theme pages as plugins can.

Especially for something as visual as themes, it would be very helpful to be able to be able to add an embedded intro or documentation video and additional screenshots showing for instance full page templates (in addition to the automatic generated pattern previews).

Having the option to add supporting documentation text in addition to the theme description text would also be very valuable for the site visitors.

In general, it would only ve fair for themes to have the same means of promotion material as plugins have, I feel.

There has been past discussion to implement a readme.txt like the plugin directory has.

Like plugins it'd be really cool to have readme.txt-generated tabs on theme pages. Maybe taking over from style.css descriptions? As themes get more complicated this can really help users better understand how to use them and find support.

Personally, I don't think the tabs interface is a good idea for the new design, but maybe it would be enough to replace the description on the detail page with parsed readme.txt content. That would at least allow a little more content for the description, maybe the FAQs section.

That does sound helpful, but I don't know if the markdown parsing would allow videos/images, or if that could become a moderation burden.
