it seems this PR was approved but (now) has conflicts with main. Still relevant to merge? Can in that case the conflicts be resolved?

If I recall correctly, we decided to keep it in this separate branch. @gabrieltseng was it because you had removed the self-supervised routine in a previous pull request that we decided to proceed like this?
