Buggy Tour behavior: pause/unpause/rewind/fast forward does not work well

Running "Seeing the Invisible" under "Tours" -> "Nebula"

When I click in the window, a control button appears that seems to let me rewind, play, or fast forward. That's good.

If I click "pause," the tour pauses, and all the WWT menus and controls come back, which is good. There is no obvious way to restart the tour.

• I can click the play button that appears under the tour thumbnail (above Nancy's headshot), but that starts the tour over from the beginning

The only way I could find to continue the tour where I left off is to press spacebar, but

• The WWT controls do not go away like they should
• The audio does not play for 10-20 seconds. At some point later, a new track of audio does start.

If I click "rewind" or "forward" it appears to advance or rewind the slides, but

• The WWT menus appear all around the tour and the sound stops for that particular series of slides
• I clicked the play button that appears under the tour thumbnail to restart the tour. Now I have audio from the first instance of the tour overlaid with the audio from the new instance of the tour running.

@pkgw This is the issue I opened on this topic long ago, but my original description of the problem is different than how it behaves now, so it seems like some changes were made in the interim.

This is the current (still buggy) behavior I'm experiencing, where the play/pause button functionality is tangled up with the space bar:

• The tour play/pause/slide thumbnail interface does not appear when the mouse hovers around the top tab bar (the way it does in the windows client).
• The interface does appear when you press the space bar, but then the pause/play button is in the wrong state.
• It shows a "click here to pause" button, even though it's already paused, so then you have to click it to turn it into a "play" button, so you end up having to click it twice to get the tour to resume playing.
