minimum amounts range from 1000 to 3000, for our purposes its better if we have an alternative that can be bought in small quantities

The substitute that farnell offer is OK :

In fact, the component is not critical. Any 5mm diameter 10uF 10V + (eg 25V, 35V) will do.

ok! shall we change the part number in the partlist in the repo? or would it be better to leave the other partnumber?

ghost commented 9 years ago

I would change it in the bom.csv, but I tried to do that yesterday and couldn't find where it was set ! So I'd just put it in the shopping list for now as an equivalent. It's not wrong, as such. I'm not sure that suppliers are really part of the schematic design.

ok, yeah my main concern is not as much suppliers but people that might be interested in making one for themselves. But lets leave it for now as is.

But you can't really keep a list of suppliers part numbers up to date. The part spec (value and footprint) ought to be enough.
