Think there's already an issue for Minetest on this.
Changing this behaviour would not be a good idea. At least it would have to be configurable. Players sometimes "draw" patterns with this effect. It is used in existing buildings.
@Sokomine: As MineClone 2 wants to be a Minecraft clone, this issue is 100% legit.
As for Minetest, I just need another node definition field to block light even for nodeboxes. Of course, this feature would be optional, at least at node definition level.
But I have no plans to making this behaviour configurable in MineClone 2, this would be too excessice IMO.
In Minecraft, slabs, stairs and farmland completely block light, but in MineClone 2, they don't.
As far I know, there is no way to stop a light propagating through a nodebox completely without messing up lighting.
