Hi, just hopping in to say that I am deeply invested in the idea of contributing to data visualization accessibility standards and stumbled across this project and issue, specifically. I am currently a researcher at Carnegie Mellon University investigating this area. Are you looking for contributors? I would be happy to provide guidance and help and would love to start a conversation on this (perhaps outside of github?). My email is fje@cmu.edu, please don't be shy.

My background: I've compiled preliminary standards guidelines in an evaluation framework Chartability, have a paper in progress on accessible visualization guidelines, contributed significantly to the open source library Visa Chart Components which features deep accessibility functionality, and have contributed to visualization accessibility guidelines at a fortune 500 company, a fortune 50 company, a fortune 5 company, as well as local governments and smaller communities of practice. I work to ensure that I don't just do research, but contribute to practice in this space at large.

I see a lot of potential in what I believe this project is setting out to do. I'm happy to work with y'all wherever you are at on this, especially if there is a capacity to devote my time to this extensively (through eventual funding or other avenues). I'm even willing just to give advice.

Thanks!

I know the issue just says to make charts accessible... but I hope that you're also thinking of including guidance related to visualization accessibility in the standards!
