Reject Noise Hit plugin is good to suppress AC background. However, this won't work for highE events as there are too many hits after big signals. So some useful hits will be rejected even in the clean window before the trigger (see WF below). A way to improve it is to calculate penalty based on lone_hit count only before the trigger position.
