Not having to run the extension locally could reduce a lot of friction

Have you thought about publishing the extension on the chrome store?

If yes, what's the update? When can we expect it?

If not why?

Hi @Ngoakor12 ,

Thank's for reaching out. Yes I am planning to put it on the chrome store.

Update: Currently it's a MVP with the only functionalities being adding and deleting the tasks. So I'm not sure if this is enough for the learners.

Q: Would you use it in the current state?

Ngoakor12 commented 7 months ago

I want to say yes, but I probably won't because I spend less time coming up with these plans nowadays.

It's definitely something I would have used a lot as a learner though.

I wanted to try it now but the setup friction got me  I'll try it some other time locally.

XavierJ96 commented 7 months ago

🤣 I understand. Hopefully, it will also be used by JTLs and Scrum Masters. It's currently in 'Pending review' in the store 😁

Ngoakor12 commented 7 months ago

Nice! It's a good idea. I'm a big fan of finding and solving problems I face daily.

I once tried something along these lines a while back as a JTL, but mine was to help me type out the standups fast and not have to format them into markdown manually. I resolved the markdown part so that posting the updates on Rocketchat was a breeze, but not the fast typing part. I got stuck on the "vs code" like autocomplete feature

It should still be available here

Not having to type in the first place and selecting cards like your extension does is the better approach.

XavierJ96 commented 7 months ago

The same 😁 That's great man. I'll look into it because for now I would probably need something like that for users to copy their tasks for now. Can we have a session sometime when you are available? I have some questions regarding your markdown project

Ngoakor12 commented 6 months ago

Sure I'll let you know during the coming break. Just found out it was broken because marked (the library I was using to render markdown in the preview) introduced breaking changes

I fixed it. You'll let me know if that was one of the confusing things about the project :call_me_hand:

Hi @Ngoakor12 ,

Just an update the extension is approved and on the Chrome store. Please contact me If you'd want to test it out then I can drop you all the details.

Ngoakor12 commented 5 months ago

Nice!

Do you know why they took so long to approve?

I ended up setting it up locally and poking around. There were a few UX-related things I wanted to open issues for, but I forgot, mainly because I don't have a use for it now since I'm rarely in learner standups.

But a link would make it easier for me to check up on the project occasionally

With the new Manifest there were issues with having Firebase as a DB. So I had to make some changes and while I was at it I also added some newer features to the so the app looks a bit different now.

I'm currently doing tests, so please feel free to test it out and provide feedback. Chrome store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/taskforge/bhfinmkpgdmcfocbcgkenecbkpajckpc?hl=en&authuser=1
