Two Things in iCalBirthdays 1.7.1 Which do not Work

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
- There are two things in iCalBirthdays 1.7.1 which do not work:

1) The selection under 'Reminder Alert' does not work. I selected '5 days 
before birthday', but the 
iCal alarms get set to 'the same day'.

2) The 'custom' selections for 'Alert' and 'Reminder' do not work, even when 
the supplied text is 
used. The following error message appears:

"Can't make <<class az20>> 1 of <<class azf4>> id "D1E4E92B-EBD2-4891-AE7C-
1F18145EBB27:ABPerson" of application "Address Book" into type Unicode text."

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
- iCalBirthdays 1.7.1 / Snow Leopard OS 10.6.1

1) Did you chose "reminder alert" or "birthday & reminder alert" in the field 
"Alert/Reminder on"?

2) This is a known issue and will be fixed in the next version of iCalBirthdays.
