Perhaps add modes? Like: manual or automatic.

manual: only use the items that have been placed on the grid.
automatic: load the ingredients from the resources inventory, but don't use the items on the grid.

Also; add a button to clear the grid.

No modes, always load the ingredients from the resources inventory, xact-style.
