Apparently picking up the XACT machine crashes the game.

To blacklist: 

portalgun.common.PortalGun.addBlockIDToGrabList(int blockID);
OR
portalgun.common.PortalGun.addBlockIDToGrabList(int blockID, int[] metadata);
