Wrong Processor Displayed. #10

Once in Mojave 10.14 and under System Information:

I've got: macOS Mojave Version 10.14 MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018) Processor 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 Memory 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 Startup Disk MojaveSSD Graphics Intel UHD Graphics 630 2048 MB Serial Number Cxxxxxxx

I have an i9-8950HK processor (2.9-4.8 GHz) which is not reflected properly under Processor. It should display something like this: Processor 2.9 GHz Intel Core i9

Should I expect to show the proper CPU? If so, how?

Cheers.

Try to define an explicit CPUID?

pmtremblay commented 6 years ago

I used the Geekbench app and it is displaying the right processor and more. Why does System Information not displaying the right information? Where would I need to look to define the CPUID if ever needed?

On second thought, never mind. As long as Geekbench shows the right processor it should be fine.

Does macOS not detect your extra cores?

In System Information, under Hardware Overview, it says: Model Name: MacBook Pro Model Identifier: MacBookPro15,1 Processor Name: Intel Core i7 - which is wrong, it should be i9 Processor Speed: 2.90 GHz - which is good. Number of Processors: 1 Total Number for Cores: 6 - which is perfect. L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB L3 Cache: 12 MB Memory: 32 GB Boot ROM Version: 220.200.252.0.0 SMC Version (system): 245f0 Serial Number (system): C02X... Hardware UUID: BF4...

Is the Processor Name wrong because of the Model Identifier?

My next goals are to tackle the following points and try to make most of them work:

Any comments on these points are appreciated. Thanks.

Don't mess with or enable hibernation. Keep it disabled. Otherwise you'll regret it.
