Ximi1970 / systray-x

SysTray-X: A system tray extension for Thunderbird. Needs both the addon AND the companion app installed to work. Will not work with TB flatpaks or snaps.

Auto-starting TB results in the app briefly being visible before minimizing to tray #170

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. If Thunderbird is set as auto-starting app, its window will briefly appear for 1 or 2 seconds before minimizing into the tray (as set in systray-x's preference panel).

Isn't there a way to transparently launch ThunderBird?

The addon is started after Thunderbird starts, so there is always some time before I can minimize it again. TB never added a start minimize option. The only way is to instruct the window manager to start it minimized, but I do not know if GNOME/Wayland is capable of doing that.

starting minimized is likely doable with KDE and a window specific rule, or another desktop that isn't (as crippled as) gnome (not that KDE is a masterpiece by any means, but at least it isn't gnome)
