Problem Statement:To make a blockchain based solution to address patient data integrity issue in Healthcare.Right now there is not an efficient & secure system to maintain patient’s health records. Prescriptions are handed out in paper which can be easily forged. The idea is to accumulate all the medical records of a person in a secure manner &give complete history of a patient’s medical record along with authentic prescription.
Solution/Idea:
MedBlock is a project which encompasses social need with technological enabler. It’s a system that prioritizes patient agent giving a transparent view of medical history. We intend to build a platform which would contain a distributed access and validation system using blockchain to replace centralized intermediaries. The blockchain will use a public key cryptography to create a tamper-proof chain of context supported not by a central server but by a decentralized network of participating nodes. Conventionally each individual node will work to solve a series of hashing exercises which contribute to the formation of chain.
This prototype will begin with a physician adding a new record through the MedBlock Provider WebApp. The record information is stored in the Provider's existing database system, and a hashed reference to the data (with appropriate viewing permissions) will be posted to the blockchain through our XDC Blockchain client and library of backend APIs. The patient can retrieve and download this data from the provider's database from the MedBlock Patient WebApp, after the database gatekeeper checks the blockchain to confirm their access and ownership rights.
