added tests for Float32. #24

A few methods needed fixing. Not sure how this affects our benchmarks so far.

All tests should pass for Float64, Float32. Can someone please review and merge this?

Coverage increased (+9.2%) to 80.643% when pulling e9fc1588a05d1e4ca3034abb7aa8cc2c796e1fe4 on float32 into 25c678de7099c16974ffa1b46895b7340c2eab94 on master.

not sure why tests for Mac fail here. Maybe a travis bug? log suggests so.
