Write Custom Hook Documentation #33

We use multiple custom hooks. These need to be documented so new developers can come onto the project with the knowledge to expand on our current patterns with clear easy to understand instructions. Currently the documentation for custom hooks is non-existent and can be fleshed out as deeply as we need them to be (either simple comments in-file, a markdown file, or possibly utilizing the github wiki)

Nice to have. Maybe we can have something basic thrown together with the assistance of AI?

Otherwise (as is typical) need to focus on getting this released over nice to haves for others.
