In the latest version running on a private server, the Draconic Evolution Tablet in or out of an akashic tome causes a complete client-side freeze with 100% reliability.
Crafting the tablet and right-clicking with it in hand to open it will instantly render the game unresponsive. I and two other players on my server have verified that this happens.
Edit: Task manager reveals Minecraft using around 80% CPU while frozen, typical usage being less than 15% while playing. No memory bloat that I can see.
