[Firefox Bug #665540 (just resolved)] - [LINUX + HIDDEN-CAPTION] Problem with HTML SELECT item!!! #160

Hello, I installed the hide-caption-titlebar-plus 2.3.0 in FF4, the
functionality of the plugins are correct, however there have been a problem
with the HTML SELECT element.

SELECT elements are not displayed correctly, when I click in the SELECT element
the list of options shown in the upper left corner. Sometimes after a few
seconds then displays correctly. The right thing would be displayed in the same
place is the SELECT element.

I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 operating system.

I ask to see the attached screenshot for a better idea.

I checked the reported problems but have not found anything so far. Please can
give me some idea what the problem is a bug or plugins.

Thanks so much for the help.

I also experience this issue with version 2.4.1 on Ubuntu 10.10 and Firefox 5.

If you move the mouse cursor up to the drop down list in the top left of the
screen, usually it fixes itself for the current page and shows the list in the
correct place.

I tried disabling the plugin and select boxes work as normal.

Thanks

Ben

Some further investigation on this, this bug occurs only when the select has a
border specified in css.

When you remove the border attribute the select works fine.

I also have experience this issue. I'm using Firefox 6 with Kubuntu Linux Lucid
10.04. Is there any kind of information I can submit for debugging?

Hello, again. Trying to get some more information, I've realized that this
issue just happens if the Hide Caption Options --> Advance Settings --> "Use
alternative hide-titlebar feature" is checked. If I select "Dont use" the
SELECT behavior is usual.

Some more info. This may not be related only to a Hide Caption problem: even
when not using the "Use alternative hide-titlebar feature", if I check "No
border" for the Firefox 6 window trough the window manager (Kwin in Kubuntu),
the HTML SELECT problem appears again.

Going further, I desactivate the Hide Caption add-in and, when not using border
for the Firefox windows through the Kwin options, the HTML SELECT problem keeps
occurring.

But, as we can read in this thread, this not seems to be a Firefox - Kwin
problem since there are people with other windows managers experiencing the
same problem.

Any idea? Regards

Excellent info gathering, tks!

I searched and had found that this is a *Firefox bug* that is already RESOLVED
(https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=665540) and reported working on
Nightly build. There is also another related Fx bug that may be affecting
(https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=671277)

FYI: the "Use alternative hide-titlebar feature" option is almost the same as
using "No border" in Kwin (similar setting used in Compiz-config, somewhat
popular, See Issue 93)

(Thank to you for this nice extension, redlibr).

Ok. Then we will wait for the next Firefox release.

Regards.

I have Opensuse 11.4, Firefox 7 (i686) and Hide caption titlebar plus 2.4.1 :
the bug is still here ... Does it mean that we have to wait for Firefox 8 ??

Yes, it's true: the bug is still there. I decided to keep the border of the
Firefox window in order to avoid the problem.
