password prompt on startup does not accept the correct password anymore #67

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. enable startup password
2. restart browser, everything worked
3. update to latest version (1.21.2)
4. restart browser

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
work as before

What Master Password+ version?
password prompt does not accept the correct password (and in my case closes
firefox)

On what Firefox/Thunderbird version?
firefox 26

On what operating system?
win8.1 x64

Please provide any additional information below.
nothing more to say but thanks god, there is a -safe-mode parameter to disable
the add-on ;)

Edit:
Seems to fail with Firefox 26. FF 25 with Master Password+ 1.21.2 still works.

Do you get any error messages in console? (CTRL + SHIFT + J)

Create a shortcut for Firefox as you did for -safe-mode parameter, and instead
of -safe-mode add: -jsconsole

This will show console before window opened, hopefully this will show some
errors that could put some light on the issue.

-jsconsole = nice trick :)

I get 10 entries per second like

w is undefined
resource://mapaplus/masterpasswordplusCore.jsm
Line 356

The console is not focusable when the password prompt shows up. When I enter
the correct password then I can access the console window (e.g. for scolling)
but the prompt comes up again.

I'm a bit confused, the original post states that it doesn't accept password,
but in your last reply I understood that it does...

Just to make sure, please change master password to something simple like
letter "a".

Also to troubleshoot even further, any way you could disable all other addons
and then re-enable them one by one and check if any of them conflict with MP+?

>>I understood that it does...
I allows me to focus the console window, but the prompt comes up again. The
main browser window does not show up.

>>disable all other addons and then re-enable them one by one
will need some time. i use about 50 essential plugins ;)

you won't believe this!
none of my 80 addons made this!
the problem is mozilla sync!! without it, it works like expected! (i use
mozilla sync 1.3.1 in owncloud 6.0.1 on a private server)
i hope this helps.
regards

I have no clue what owncloud is (owncloud.org with no information whatsoever
makes my eye tick and I didn't waste my time trying figure it out)

I've tried setup firefox sync using mozilla's server, but couldn't reproduce
the issue you are having.

owncloud is a selfhosted service like dropbox.
additionally I use a plugin, which is the same (but working version) of the
mozilla sync server (formerly mozilla weave server).

I try to set up a new firefox profile, install mapa+ and set up sync again to
reproduce the error from scratch.
